Photonics - Scholarships from the Federal Government of Germany in Friedrich Schiller University of Jena

Scholarship Type: This scholarship is for international students only. This scholarship is for masters program only. Abbe School of Photonics is under FSU Jena which is a very prestigious institution at Germany. This scholarship is granted in cooperation with partners from the German optics and photonics industry, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the County of Thuringia.  Approximately 15 scholarships are available per year.

Scholarship Benefits

The amount of support is up to EUR 800 per month for a maximum duration of two years. The scholarships also include language courses.

Eligibility:

                01.     Be an international student.

02.     Having an undergraduate degree in Science, like: B.Sc, B.Eng. or B.Tech. comprising significant exposure of fundamentals of physics or an equivalent or better degree.

03.     Proficiency in written and spoken English.

English Language Requirement:

As proof of language proficiency they accept TOEFL or an equivalent test from the list below.

- Native speakers and those who have completed their study degree in English are also accepted.

Preferable English Language skills:

• TOEFL PBT 550

• TOEFL CBT 215

• TOEFL IBT 85

• IELTS 6.5

• ESOL CAE

Application Info:

• If you apply for a scholarship, two letters of recommendation from your professors are required.

• CV: Please note all the steps of your life in chronological order. We also need to know what you are doing at the moment even if you are doing nothing relevant to our course/are unemployed/ill/on parental leave.

Please note: To apply for a scholarship at the Abbe School of Photonics it is not necessary to submit certified copies (paper) of the above mentioned documents. However, upon acceptance students will be asked to send certified copies via post. For upload of documents only .pdf documents are acceptable.

For Chinese, Vietnamese and Mongolian applicants: Since the certificate of the Academic Evaluation Centres is not required for the application for the scholarship you can send this document later, i.e. upon acceptance. The certificate is required to get the admission to the Master program.

Application deadline:

Application deadline is same as the deadline of the Masters program.
